A Ten Out of Ten Start to Year 2!
What a fantastic first half term we've had in Class 2! We asked the children what they thought of their start to Year 2, and almost everyone gave it a whopping TEN OUT OF TEN! We've certainly been busy, and it's lovely to hear how much everyone has enjoyed themselves.
In Science, we've been exploring the forest area and searching for minibeasts. The children loved discovering what was hiding amongst the leaves and under logs, and some were even brave enough to hold spiders and worms! We've also enjoyed spending time playing with our friends, with Waseem choosing this as one of his favourite things about school.
Our Art lessons have been full of creativity! We studied the work of artist Rosie James and had a go at creating our own artwork inspired by her style. Our Imaginative Iguanas certainly lived up to their name, coming up with some wonderful ideas! Annalise said that doing Rosie James artwork was her favourite part of the half term, while Joyce also picked Art as her highlight. Take a look at our pictures to see some of our fantastic creations!

We've been working hard in our other lessons too. In Maths, we've been developing our number skills, with Alma and Turki both choosing Maths as their favourite subject. Baysan particularly enjoyed using number lines. Our handwriting has also been improving, with Aisha picking handwriting practice as one of her favourite activities.
In Phonics, the children have been making great progress and are becoming increasingly confident with their reading. Farah told us she enjoyed phonics "because I like the work!" It's wonderful to see the children recognising how much they're improving.
Our PE lessons with Miss Nicol have been another highlight, with lots of fun, exercise and happy faces. Ismail was particularly enthusiastic, choosing PE as his favourite part of the half term.
One of our biggest adventures has been in English, where we read the wonderful story The Bog Baby. Inspired by the book, the children invented their very own mysterious creatures, thinking carefully about what they might look like and how they would live. We then used AI to turn their drawings and descriptions into realistic pictures of their creatures. The results were AMAZING! Presiyan particularly enjoyed writing about the bog babies, and we were all incredibly excited to see our imaginary animals brought to life.
Finally, we rounded off the half term with our school Halloween dressing-up day. Class 2 looked absolutely brilliant in their costumes, and there were plenty of smiles throughout the day. Have a look at our class photograph to see everyone dressed up!
It's been a busy, creative and exciting start to Year 2, and we're very proud of how well the children have settled in. They've worked hard, made new friends and shown us just how much they're capable of. We're looking forward to even more adventures next half term!
