A Wonderful Winter
Fabulous Fractions
In maths this term, we have been focusing upon fractions. We can add and subtract fractions with the same denominator, and can convert fractions to solve more complicated mathematical problems. We have loved using our knowledge of multiples to help us throughout this process and can’t wait to continue learning more about fractions next term. We have also focused on square numbers and absolutely loved showing off our square number dance routine in whole school assembly. The song is quite catchy! We can use mathematical language to explain that a square number is a number which is multiplied by itself. Well done to Amelia and Frankie on their superb focus on square numbers this term! We can’t wait to continue exploring the wonderful world of maths more next term!
Brilliant Bede
This term in writing, we have been writing a newspaper report based upon events within our class book ‘Brightstorm’. We have been working really hard on our use of direct speech, and have performed a song to help us remember the order of the inverted commas, reporting clause and speech itself. Charlie’s use of speech as witness quotes really helped to set the scene for the reader and keep them interested in the report. Aaron used a range of fronted adverbials to hook the reader, making them want to read on and find out if Ernest (a missing explorer) will be found in the South Polaris. We finished the term writing a newspaper report based upon our brilliant tree planting success and we can’t wait to publish these within our own class Bede Buzz next term!
