Everybody learns, everybody cares

The Quest Continues...

What an amazing end to another fabulous year in Class 8! We have continued our learning all about ‘Knights and Castles’ and have learnt many new facts too. Did you know, knights were expected to live by a code of chivalry, emphasizing virtues like courage, honour, courtesy, and protection of the weak…we think everyone should have these qualities.

In maths, we have been learning about position and direction and have used our knowledge of fractions to help us recognise half, quarter and three quarter turns! We created maps for the Bee Bots and used simple programming to direct them through the maps to an end point.

In literacy, first we read ‘Tell me a Dragon’. We then planned our own dragon lands and described the dragons that would live there. We moved on to read ‘King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table’ retold by Marcia Williams. Our class loved reading about all the quests King Arthur went on and how he became the true King of England by pulling the sword from the stone in the churchyard.

In science we have looked at forces and gravity and have loved investigating how different variables affect the speed at which different objects fall.

In PSHE we have been learning about friendships and have worked together to make a delicious friendship pie, which we shared with our friends in Class 7 too. How kind we are!

We have continued our Forest School sessions and learnt lots about nature, including how to identify different trees by their leaves and barks. We have enjoyed learning new skills too and have even started whittling!

We have ended our year with a fabulous trip to Tynemouth beach. We travelled there on the Metro, ensuring that we all followed the instructions and stayed safe. We enjoyed playing on the beach and followed the rules to stay safe in the sea. We were respectful of other children and adults who were there and enjoyed an ice cream too!

We are already looking forward to next year and the exciting new things we will learn!
